What exemestane is
The active ingredient in Alpha Pharma's Aromex is exemestane. Exemestane is a steroidal aromatase inhibitor that binds the enzyme irreversibly, so the body has to produce new aromatase to recover activity.
It is used in breast cancer therapy and off-label to control oestrogen during a cycle, sometimes preferred for its neutral effect on cholesterol. It is supplied as 30 tablets of 25 mg each.
